Welcome to CommonRoom.org
Welcome to CommonRoom.org, a site set up to make sure the sixth form in South Wolds keeps together and keeps memories when we all depart to various places of education.
I cannot recommend enough stopping by the 6th Form Forum, to chat with other members of the the 6th Form. It is located HERE, or alternatively click on the link "forum summary" to the left.
To find people who used to be (or still are) in the sixth form, click on the year in which they left or are due to leave the school. To publish your name, email address and ICQ number, click here. And don't forget to drop in on the forum, where you can chat with sixth formers past and present.

New Admin
(Andrew, 11 November 2003, 11:10pm)
With much deserved thanks to Ben and Neil I am now an admin for this site.
Currently all I will be trying to do is get people to join the forum, so we can get the site going again. If the site does take off, then I will concentrate on adding content to the site.
If you have any queries or suggestions feel free to mail me. (abyss@commonroom.org)

An actual site update
(Ben, 24 May 2003, 2:46pm)
The prom section has been updated. It's not interactive (yet) but at least we have some form of content. Shortly, it'll be interactive (But that's part of a much bigger project) - This is the shape of things to come, actual site improvements. Imagine that, eh
Job opportunity
(Ben, 12 March 2003, 7:29pm)
I'm writing about the Keyworth Summer Holiday Playscheme which will be running for a fortnight this August, for children aged 5-11. I am in need of Assistants for this year's scheme - and sixth formers at South Wolds are perfect both in terms of age and location. The scheme is great fun, is excellent experience and is paid. Perfect for anyone with previous experience with kids, anyone who is going into teaching, childcare, etc. Applicants should contact me for an application form on 0115 9375945 or call the village hall on 0115 937 2185.
Many thanks James Waite Playscheme Leader
Well, that was mostly painless
(Ben, 1 December 2002, 6:03pm)
If you can see this, this is on the new host. Therefore, we've moved. Didn't hurt a bit, did it?
We're moving...
(Ben, 30 November 2002, 5:02pm)
Yes, we're moving once more. After 2 or so years of service with the current web host, it no longer meets the technical demands required of the future of this site. So, we're moving to a new host. Faster, bigger, better. There shouldn't be any downtime, as the transition should be a smooth one. But you never can be sure.
Guess Who's Back, Back Again
(Ben, 16 November 2002, 3:23pm)
Ben is back, back again. Yes yes ladies and gentlemen. I've had an interest in this site once more. Got rid of the god-awful URL style, and everything is now neater (If you don't believe me, click some links, look at the short URLs). Anyhow, I have still to do the prom section, this I know. I'm just debating how to best implement it. All the photo's are scanned and saved somewhere. It's just how to best implement what I have in mind. Bearing in mind privacy issues and such like. If anyone wants to contribute more photo's, feel free.
Minor updates
(Neil, 29 August 2001, 6:00 pm)
Minor changes to some of the content and style. Nothing special.
It's just you & me now...
(Neil, 14 August 2001, 8:00 pm)
Today, Ben posted this message to the forum:
"I've had enough of this website. Soon, I'll be no longer affiliated with South Wolds at all, in any way, shape or form
I enjoy posting to the forum when there's a good conversation going on, but I don't enjoy the admin side of things. Which is why I've just not done any for the past couple of months, and Neil has done it all. Which I'm thankful for
"I have no interest any more in the inner workings of the website. I just want to read a bit of news about stuff, and have a bit of a laugh on the forum. I don't want to care if the website's working or not
"For the past few months I've done nothing productive with regards to this site. I've just paid the bills, and posted on and off to this forum
"As of this coming sunday (19th august) I will only be posting to the forum, and paying the bill. If something breaks, I don't care
"I'll still be getting the e-mails to say how the site's working, and getting e-mails when something breaks or whatever. But, I won't act upon them. I haven't been doing for some time, and Neil has coped fine, I think. Well, he's not complained, maybe just because I've always been too bitch at the time to be bothered to help with anything. I don't know
"Whoever Neil decided to take over this website will be fine with me, as long as they're not complete arseholes. I still hold the right to say "no", as at the end of the day, the dome (commonroom.org) is "mine" (http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?STRING=commonroom.org tells you as much)
"My interest in the whole site has been reduced from day one, when Neil asked for my help. Which at the time, I wanted the site to grow and stuff like that. I had many ideas, and implemented some of them. Now, all I have is a passing interest. So, it's not right that I have any choice in the running of the site, if I have no interest in it
"That is all, over to you, Neil"
It's a shame, as Ben's done a heck of a lot for the site, but it's his decision. I respect it, and fully understand, as I'm sure you all do. Ben, we salute you.
So, all site feedback to me from now on, please. Your one and only webmaster... although that should change soon, hopefully...
